It was just a blink of the eyes before it transited from the Year of the Dragon to a new Year of the Snake. With a nearby weekend and a day of leave-in-lieu, was enjoying a rare four-day break for Spring Festival since moving to Singapore many years ago.
Since visiting the Sentosa Flowers show for the first time last year, I fell in love with the joyous moments of flower appreciation in this tiny island state despite the smallish scale of the show. For a good start in this year of the Water Snake, and once again went onto Sentosa Island in the early morning, just to avoid the usual crowd and the inevitable afternoon showers during the New Year period.

Story of Nuwa
—yet another piece of broken, rojak Chinese culture, the Singaporean style...Whoever designed this, listen up! The head just seemed to come from one of those mannequins in some showcase, which was totally out of proportion. And the Chinese name of the goddess Nüwa is really “女娲,” not “女娃,” okay?
