Chinese Traditions
the lost cultural identity
Despite having been born and brought up in mainland China, I have grown more and more discontent with my own knowledge in Chinese traditions during my staying overseas in the recent decade. While many Chinese around the world have always been very proud of our own history and culture, the post-Cultural Revolution generation in mainland China, however, is no longer familiar with, not to mention practising, many of the traditions.
Below are just some of the bits and pieces of the “lost gems” that I collected. I hope they can serve as reminders of our proud culture to the younger generations like

在中国大陆出生和成长,但在这十多年在异国居留的经历中,我却不得不时常叹息,自己对华人传统文化的了解是如此的肤浅与不足。尽管居住在世界各地的华人通常都对自己本身的历史、文化引以为荣,但是在下面是一些我一直以来收集到的点滴知识。希望就以此作为我们年轻一代对传统文化的小小备忘录吧。
