The Temple of Nanhai God, or the Temple of the God of Southern Seas, lies about 16 km to the east of metropolitan Guangzhou. It used to be quite remote and inaccessible to the residents from the city. With the new transportation infrastructures, especially the new BRT lines along Zhongshan Avenue, however, the temple has returned to its original glory and has become one of the traditional places of worship for the citizens of Guangzhou again.
In fact, it is so convenient now that
can hop onto one of the BRT lines from a stop 15 minutes’ walk from home on the south edge of old Guangzhou and get to the temple with just 2 yuan (about US$0.31), using the BRT system alone.Transmission towers near Huangpu Electric Power Plant (in the background there is one of the cable towers of Huangpu Bridge)
