Located in the eastern end of the affluent Yangtze River Delta, Shanghai is the largest city by population in China. Shanghai is famous for her unique Haipai, or Shanghai School, culture. Being the cultural and economic centre of East Asia for the first half of the twentieth century, she is one of the most important locales in modern Chinese history.

Xintiandi is an affluent shopping, eating and entertainment district also famous for the reconstituted traditional shikumen architecture. Comparing to Tianzifang, however, still preferred the narrow alleyways and the liveliness with real local residence in the latter.
