This Phonetic Labyrinth
try it out to believe it!
This is a poem that was given in 1974 to Class RII at Stockholm’s Higher General Secondary School for Girls, Norrmalm by a temporary teacher whose name has been forgotten. It is one of the most well-known poems that ‘showcases’ the complexity in English pronunciations. You may find quite a number of variants of this poems from the Internet. The version recorded here is supposedly the original version.

I found it extremely tricky, if not impossible at all, for myself to really read out the whole poem correctly without consulting the dictionary from time to time. For your convenience, I’ve actually annotated the keywords with IPA notation that reveals itself when the mouse pointer hovers over a keyword.
